Living With Tinnitus

Tinnitus is a hearing disorder characterized by the perception of sound without the presence of an external source. The sound could be in one or both ears. It may be a ringing, hissing, buzzing, high pitched whining or screeching noise that may have no end.

It is unclear what exactly causes tinnitus but it’s commonly seen as an early-stage warning sign for other health conditions such as heart disease and diabetes. Some studies have also found a connection between tinnitus and age-related hearing loss but there are some who believe that tinnitus has its own underlying cause.

The cure for tinnitus varies from person to person and will depend on the severity of their condition. Some treatments include avoiding trigger sounds, using ear plugs, using sound generators to mask the noises. Some people find relief through natural remedies like herbal medicines and essential oils. Other medical remedies are also available.
